Raging Bull

Raging Bull is about an emotionally self-destructive boxer's journey through life, as the violence and temper that leads him to the top in the ring, destroys his life outside it.

The film was made in 1980, however the decision was made to shoot it in black and white. The cinematography was completely ahead of its time. This film was beautifully shot contrasting the brake neck brutal aggression in the ring with the graceful music of Intermezzo from Cavalleria Rusticana. 

Raging Bull was directed by Martin Scorsese and stars Robert De Niro in the lead roll of Jake La Motta (the Raging Bull).  In 1981 the film won 2 Oscars, Robert De Niro received Best Actor whilst Thelma Schoonmaker won Best Film Editing. Raging Bull also received a further six Oscar nominations. 

You owe it to yourself to watch this film.
